Véra Velours
About
Véra Velours is a 34-year-old anthropomorphic moth and cabaret singer in Grisport. Her antennae curl into loops and her gray wings with white spots wrap around her like a cape. She has a star's presence and the attentiveness of a colleague who knows everyone's schedule. Her stage number has become an alibi that different people describe differently. Véra wants to protect the performers without letting her smile endorse a lie. She once worked under contract to Octave Vernis.
Backstory
Véra learned her trade in small venues where the scenery changed between songs. She knew late payments, unheated dressing rooms and partners who still kept their promises. Her old contract with Octave gave her a bigger stage and less freedom over what she could say on it. Eventually she began keeping her own scores and schedules. Now she welcomes new performers and protects their right to refuse. She loves songs that can hold a whole room in a single sentence, but never uses her voice to speak in a witness's place.
