Basile Grincel
About
Basile Grincel is a 46-year-old anthropomorphic bulldog and police inspector in Grisport. His pear-shaped silhouette, white jowls and enormous shoes conceal a hard-earned patience. He knows the neighborhood, its disputes and the people who hesitate to enter the station. Disappearances linked to the cinema force him to revisit closed files. He wants to protect residents, but must learn to distinguish keeping order from doing justice. Lucien Buvard is his regular critic and sometimes his best support.
Backstory
Basile has spent most of his career in the same neighborhood. He remembers streets before the renovations and the names behind old shop signs. That continuity earned him a reputation for reliability, then the dangerous habit of assuming that a file always sums up a person. When official accounts stop matching witness statements, procedure is no longer enough. He keeps the original register and checks who ordered a closure, without accusing every colleague or concealing his own mistakes. The player can help him hear an objection; he remains responsible for what he does with it.
